COB WALLS, BRIGHT QUARTZ & A PROPER FAMILY HUB
MEL'S FAMILY FARMHOUSE
Set inside a characterful old farmhouse in the countryside, this Exeter Kitchen Store kitchen was designed to feel bright, practical and welcoming, without fighting the charm of the building. With uneven cob walls and a busy family routine, the brief was simple: make it work hard, make it feel lighter, and make it feel like the heart of the home.

THE KITCHEN
This farmhouse kitchen already had plenty of character, but the cob walls meant nothing was quite straight, and the room felt darker and smaller than it needed to. Our job was to work with the quirks, not against them, creating a layout that respected the age of the building while making the space feel brighter, more open and far more practical for everyday family life.
The Mornington door was an easy choice. Its classic shaker style feels right at home in a countryside setting and will stand the test of time. The colour combination of Stone and Regiment Green adds warmth and depth without overpowering the room, striking a lovely balance between calm and character.
The Ammonite Glacier White Quartz worktops play a big role in lifting the space. One of the customer’s favourite details is by the sink, where the worktop runs right back to the window. It reflects the natural light beautifully, helping the whole room feel brighter and more spacious than before.
At the heart of the kitchen, the island brings everyone together. It’s where baking happens, breakfasts are grabbed, and homework gets done, making it a true family hub rather than just something nice to look at.
